VIAREGGIO
Known mainly for Carnival, the "pearl of the Tyrrhenian" has always been appreciated for its elegant beaches and entertainment. Viareggio is also an interesting destination for those who appreciate art, with the Civic Museums of Villa Paolina, Villa Borbone and the splendid Art-decò and Liberty structures that adorn the city. The promenade of over 3 km that runs along the sea is decorated with stupendous architecture, from the Bagno Balena to the Caffè Margherita, where Giacomo Puccini loved to sit. The pier offers an evocative glimpse of the city and the marvelous Apuan Alps behind it. For nature lovers, the beautiful Pineta di Ponente offers walkways and excursions in the dense uncontaminated nature. Undoubtedly, the Lecciona beach is worth a visit, a beach where the vegetation arrives luxuriantly on the sand dunes overlooking the sea. Typical Events: The Carnival and the Puccini Festival in summer. The GAMC calendar, The Municipal Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art set up in Palazzo delle Muse, offers interesting exhibitions. Centro Matteucci per l'Arte Moderna organizes beautiful exhibitions throughout the year.
TORRE DEL LAGO
Famous for having been the historic home of Maestro Giacomo Puccini, it hosts the Puccini Festival in its splendid open-air theater on the lake.
LUCCA
One of the most beautiful cities of art in Tuscany, Lucca is an unmissable stop for those wishing to visit this region. There are many things to see, walking inside the beautiful sixteenth-century walls, in a completely pedestrian or cycling area. Citing just a few of the main attractions: the Botanical Garden, the Cathedral of San Martino, the Roman Amphitheater, the Guinigi Tower and the National Picture Gallery. Typical Events: Lucca Comics & Games, an event dedicated to the world of comics, cartoons, games and video games. Lucca Summer Festival, a musical event of the highest level, with internationally renowned musicians and singers.
LE CINQUE TERRE
Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso, five seaside villages declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO since 1997. The paths, the ancient castles, the walls leave every visitor enchanted. You can walk among landscapes framed by breathtaking nature, between small paths and streets. Typical Events: Events, parties, fairs, festivals, markets and concerts, concentrated especially during the spring and summer, enrich the visits of the Cinque Terre.
FLORENCE
A unique city in the world, the hub of Italy's intellectual, artistic and cultural heritage. One of the few cities in the world with the entire historic center listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It would take a few days to be able to visit the many noteworthy things. Among those that seem unmissable are the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery, Piazza della Signoria and the Church of Santa Maria Novella, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens. Typical Events: The city is animated by a full calendar of food and wine events (dedicated to typical indigenous products) and cultural and artistic events.
SIENA
Piazza del Campo in Siena is considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world. It has a characteristic 9-segment shell shape, a detail that can only be admired from the top of the Torre del Mangia. The characteristic and very famous Palio takes place twice a year in the square. Remained intact as in the Middle Ages, the color of the facades of the buildings and roofs, the "Terra di Siena" known throughout the world makes the city landscape harmonious and beautiful to look at. Absolutely to see the Cathedral, with the façade in which black and white prevail and the floor, full of esoteric symbols and religious stories, as well as of course the Baptistery with the baptismal font in bronze and marble. Typical Events: In addition to the two annual editions of the Palio di Siena, there are many other events that animate the city, such as festivals and celebrations, especially in the neighboring municipalities. During the summer, the "Cinema in Fortezza" program includes the screening of films outdoors at the Medici Fortress in the period of June and July. In August the films are screened in some parks in Siena. In July / August the Siena Jazz Association organizes many outdoor concerts.
PISA
Famous all over the world for the Leaning Tower, Pisa also offers many other interesting things to see. Do not miss Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and the Lungarni, Piazza dei Miracoli with the Leaning Tower, the Baptistery, the Duomo and the Camposanto, the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo and that of the Sinopias, the botanical garden. Typical Events: Every year in June in Pisa there are traditional events linked to the celebration of the patron saint, San Ranieri, which are part of the so-called “Pisan June”. Particularly noteworthy are the Luminara, the San Ranieri Regatta and the Gioco del Ponte.
